    Hello;

    I bought this.

I have a few questions. I have read the postal materials of the German army, but I still don't understand. Please help me!

A, on the cover of the envelope,

    Feldpost number m13870, "
    " what does it mean?

    "B.=Nr 47624 M.P.A.pars", what do they mean?

    ---------------------------

I know Feldpost number m13870, below:

Thirteen thousand eight hundred and seventy

    (Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) 5. Kompanie Infanterie-Regiment 460

    (2.1.1940-27.4.1940) gestrichen, wurde Fp.Nr. 38061 B

    (28.4.1940-14.9.1940) Marine-Artillerie-Zeugant Westfrankreich

    (15.9.1940-31.1.1941) Marine-Artillerie-Zeugant Rochefort,

    (1.8.1943-23.3.1944) 20.8.1943 Marine-Artillerie-Arsenal Rochefort.

    But I still don't understand.

    5. Kompanie Infanterie-Regiment 460, I need the situation of this regiment

"Gestrichen," what does this German mean? Is it reorganizing the infantry, or the infantry was destroyed?

    ---------------------------------

B, 2 red German languages, what do they mean?

C, postmark Feldpost number 453, 453 is also registered number,

Postmark Feldpost numbers = registered numbers, I want to know why they are consistent!

D, it sends to Berlin.W35, what's the address and name of it?

    --------------------------------

I know, this Feldpost envelope, is the the Atlantic barrier (Atlantikwall), on the cover, the pencil handwriting "aus Rochefort"

    Rochefort, is Charente-Maritime of France

Why, the seller writes' Festung Royan '?

I want to know Royan and Rochefort, their relationship, Royan is a street of Rochefort, where is it?

    I need the Internet

On the the Atlantic barrier (Atlantikwall), in the Charente-Maritime province of Rochefort, France,

Thank you very much for your help!

    Greetings
    xiaolin

I am not a field post specialist, and am not very much interested in that topic anyway, but perhaps I can help a little.

The letter is addressed to the high command of the German navy (Kriegsmarine).

"gestrichen" means "struck out" or "deleted", that's when the unit got a new number, and the old number was not used any more for a while. The field post number was used several times for different units, with a pause in between.

The registration number is 611. 453 is probably the number of the field post office. That's a different thing from the field post number of a unit.

    M. P. A. Paris could be the Militärpostamt (military post office) in Paris, but that's only a guess.

Royan is a town near Rochefort which was heavily destroyed in January 1945. That was because German troops still held on there while the Allied troops had already taken the surrounding country, and wanted to break the German resistance they encountered in Royan. Details can be found on Wikipedia.

    Hope this helps.

    Peace, Jan-Martin

In Feldpost number, why did 20.8.1943 not have this force?

    The registration is 4.8.1944
