Strange annotaion?

Hello to all of you!

By some strange coincidence a friend and I have postcards to the same recipient in Bad Nauheim (Hotel Bristol, May 1906) Both of them have a postal (?) annotation 2 in blue crayon. Both cards have the correct porto. So, how do you explain it?

Hej Pixie,

the "2" in blue crayon should be the room number from Hotel Bristol. I don't think that this is any postal annotation. It seems the "2" is written by the same hand, obviously by the hotelporter at the reception.

Hej Pixie,

I have looked for something similar in my collections.

Here we have a letter from Copenhagen to Mr. Wilhelm Volck who was at the time at the Grandhotel in Odense. Obviously the handwritten "226" is again the room number.

That is quite interesting - so now we have a new collecting area.
Your item is great because the high number makes the explanation even more plausible.
