    Hello there

Is this a cavalry free envelope?

This handwritten text above (Italian language), what do they mean?

    What is the correct text?

How to see if it is military free? In the above, there is "free" text?

    thank

I am not an expert but this is a pre-philatelic envelope(I think Papal State).

The text (my english isn't very good):

Serviggio di Gendarmeria Reale=Service of Royal Gendarmerie

    al(?)=to

....di Commissario di guerra=of war Commissioner(?)

the word above I think is his name

It should be a letter from Serviggio di Gendarmeria Reale to Commissario di guerra(Ministry of War)

I think, this envelope has nothing to do with the cavalry.

The destination of the letter was Castel S.(San) Pietro, today Castel San Pietro Terme, near the town Bologna.

The red seal is to small to recognize a good picture.

This is the seller's explanation: LETTERA SU CARTA INTESTATA, "G.B.PIZZAMIGLIO BRIGADIERE COMANDANTE DELLA BRIGATA DI CAVALLERIA", and it is 3, 1807.

    I don't understand.

The word is the name of the commander of the "Brigata di cavalleria" to this time, his name was "Pizzamiglio".

You can find some informations to the "Brigata di cavalleria" about Wikipedia, but no name of commanders before the year 1835, but only in Italien language.

    https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigata_d…o_del_Friuli%22

A horse with rider is on the coat of arms from the Brigata, but I cannot see this coat of arms on the red seal from the letter.

"Lettera su carta intestata" is a letter on paper with a heading. As I can see only the outer side, I don't know whether that is the case.

In a sense, there is a relationship with the cavalry, but that is not apparent from the address. Maybe it's specified in the letter.

    Gruss,

    Jean Philippe

    Hello xiaolin,

As your mailbox (Konversationen = PN) is full, I take this roundabout way to forward a question by migara who in another thread wanted to know what the object shown in annex is.

    Maybe you can help.

    Best,

    Jean Philippe
