Concerning DDR Michel Nr. 662 it was withdrawn because the face of the soldier bore no resemblance to that of a soldier of the Nationalen Volksarmee.

First Day Special Cancellations were applied to First Day Covers by Berlin Post Office W8 till 2 o'clock that afternoon.

According to the "Michel Deutschland Spezial Katalog", this stamp was again allowed for postage for the period November 11 through 21, 1958. No reason mentioned why.

Beginning on November 22nd, a blue border was applied to the stamp and a postmark applied beside the stamp. In some instances postage due was levied. No date was given as to how long this went on with the blue border. I personally have not seen any examples of these.
