Cancellation on 1927 wertbrief

    Hello and goog morning to all,

    The attached wertbrief of 1927 appeared on ebay two months ago: is franked with 2xMi.396, and cancelled unusually with two strikes of bold "X"instead of the circular datestamps.
    Are these parcel cancellations?

    These cancels were used for parcels and large, bulky wrappers. Your value declared letter probably contained banknotes or coins and it was probably not possible to cancel the stamps properly. You don´t see this kind of cancel very often, usually Danzig is best known for its use. Or you see similar ones on inflation letters. Nice item!
